The result of the long friendship between Schneider brewmaster Hans-Peter Drexler and Brooklyn brewmaster Garrett Oliver, Schneider Hopfen-Weisse is simply a stunning beer.

In May 2007, Oliver made the journey across the Atlantic to visit the historic Schneider Brewery and to work in partnership with Drexler on a new beer. The result of the creativity and innovation from Brooklyn and the brewing tradition of the famous 400 year old Schneider Weisse brewery was a completely new style of wheat beer.
Schneider Hopfen-Weisse (8.2% abv) is described as 'hoppy fireworks', thanks in no part to the fact that it is the only wheat beer which is dry-hopped, a process which involves adding hops (in this case, a quite new Hallertau Saphir variety) during the fermentation process to create a powerful hop aroma.
A strong and full bodied beer, served with a main course Schneider Hopfen-Weisse matches well with spicy food and can work equally as well as an aperitif when well chilled.
It pours golden in colour with the typical cloudiness to be expected from a wheat beer. The head is tight and firm, with aromas of citrus, vanilla, banana and those strong hops. It is also a beer which will keep well, developing sherry-notes after around 12 months.
Schneider Hopfen-Weisse has been hailed as an exciting innovation; re-awaking much interest in German wheat beer and introducing a new generation to one of the oldest and most traditional styles of brewing. Each year’s brew varies slightly in flavour with a new batch release annually in March.
Each year's brew is released in March and is available in 20 x 50cl nrb.
