Bavik, as Brewery De Brabandere is usually known, has a rich history. Five generations of De Brabanderes have taken the reigns, weathering bad times and good, with a couple of world wars thrown in for good measure.

Over those five generations, the little village of Bavikhove has been gifted with an ever increasing array of well executed Belgian styles. Never sentimental progressive, with an eye on tradition. First, the amber beers the region is famous for. Then the rather bitter and aromatic Bavik Pils in the 1970s. Then Petrus Sours and red-tinged Oud Bruin.

All styles that find favour with beer’s connesouris, those with taste and a consideration for quality. And it’s no surprise, given the brewery’s focus on technique and innovation. Beers are barrel aged, left to ferment in oak for years at a time. The fresh and slightly sour taste this method produces is likened to wine, and these ‘foeder’ beers are rightly prized.

It’s lucky, then, that the brewery are happy to spread the word beyond their little village. Because Bavik beers are beers to be shared, enjoyed and savoured the world over.

Bavik Super Pils obtains its unique taste and aroma from its exceptional brewing process. Our pilsner has not been diluted, we only use aroma hops, guarantee a long and cold maturation process, and pasteurization is out of the question. Those four elements result in this unique pilsner.
