Erdinger history

From unassuming beginnings some 130 years ago, Erdinger has grown to become the world’s largest producer of wheat beer, and one of the largest privately owned breweries in Germany.

They’re now exporting their refined take on Bavarian Weissbier, brewed using state-of-the-art equipment and strikingly modern processes.

Though the iconic Erdinger Weissbier is an undisputed classic, gracing bars and tables throughout Germany and beyond, there’s much more to unearth by delving into the brewery’s heavyweight range. Their dark, smooth Dunkel is famous for its malty, full-bodied flavours, and there’s even a crisp, effervescent Kristall showing a different aspect of wheat beer entirely.

Erdinger’s flagship beers are brewed according to traditional recipes, in accordance with strict Bavarian purity laws first set down in 1516. That such a historic beer style has now found its way to over 90 countries is a testament to German dedication in general, and to Erdinger’s status as the cream of the crop.
